“Humanity will Survive” This was the response I got from Janani Madan when I asked her to write a melody and lyrics on top of a groove that we created.
My instructions were very open: “Write about something that you really care about.” Her words could mean several things. Is she referring to the survival of the human race? Or is it about preserving our humanity towards others? Even during hard and challenging times? I will let you make your own interpretation.
Of course, colours and nuances from the original language gets lost in translation, but Janani´s energy and expression is there.
She believes in humanity. I tend to do that too.
